Research and Development

Intelligent Data have a long history of research and development in the transport, logistics and mobility sectors. Using Empirical data, our team of data scientists have undertaken research to advise clients on the impact of specific interventions, local policy decisions and behaviour using evidence-based traffic

Recent Projects

Measuring the impact of weather on driver behaviour

Our client, a leading insurance company commissioned Intelligent Data to gather empirical evidence of the changes in driver behaviour during different weather events on various road types

Understanding the impact of driver speeds through roadworks

A national consultancy/contractor led consortium commissioned Intelligent Data to provide empirical evidence to understand the impact of temporary traffic speeds on drivers during various stages of roadworks

The impact of congestion on the accuracy of traffic monitoring devices

Our research used meta-data to understand the impact of congestion on the accuracy of long and short-term traffic monitoring devices. The outcomes have been presented to various public and private bodies to improve the understanding of the accuracy of data and how it should be used in transport assessments, transport planning and modelling

Cycle and Driver interaction studies

A major public sector organisation commissioned Intelligent Data to review cycle and driver interaction at major interchanges to understand the behaviour of all road users

Freight Toolkit for London

Intelligent Data were heavily involved in the development of the freight toolkit for Transport for London using empirical data sets to understand the impact of logistics, freight and refuse on town centre environments throughout London. The data was used to create a freight toolkit policy.
